Dental Bridges in Canton
Restore your smile with a Dental Bridge
Bridges are often a good treatment option for replacing one or more missing teeth. If left un-replaced, other teeth can begin to shift, creating issues with bite alignment and increasing the chances of developing gum disease.
Dr. Goch has many years of experience restoring patients’ mouths to full health and function. He always educates his patients on their options for replacing missing teeth.
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is a restoration that is used to replace a missing tooth, or multiple missing teeth. The ends of the bridge fit over two or more anchor teeth which have been ground down and hold the bridge in place.
Dental implants for replacing missing teeth
In some cases, Dr. Goch will recommend a dental implant to replace a missing tooth. This is especially true if the teeth on either side of the missing tooth are healthy. Dental implants are a conservative procedure as they don’t require alteration of your healthy teeth.
However, if the teeth next to the missing tooth are going to require crowns, due to decay or damage, then Dr. Goch would use a dental bridge.
Implant-supported bridges
When replacing multiple missing teeth, Dr. Goch may recommend an implant-supported bridge. Using dental implants to hold the bridge in place is a much stronger and longer lasting solution than anchoring the bridge to your other teeth. This is also a more conservative option as it does not require the alteration of your natural, healthy teeth as with a regular bridge.
